Exterior Facelift

We painted our house and we LOVE it. It’s the perfect steel blue and each time we drive up to our home I am just in awe. It looks so homey and perfectly us. It is beautiful in the snow and beautiful in the spring. Also, the custom wood shutters my Dad made -a Christmas gift - are the perfect touch.

Also by WE painted I mean my husband and his dad painted. You can think of me as the superintendent though ;). But REALLY Jeff and his dad did all the hard work. It took them 3 full days which looked something like this.

  1. Prep the House. i.e. tape the windows, find and place siding at infilled window locations (See Master Bath Remodel), etc.

  2. Paint, Paint, Paint. They ROCKED it and painted all of the steel blue in one day, what a team! I came out during a break from my desk job to try my hand at the paint sprayer - I wanted to help and was bummed I was stuck inside all day.

  3. Trim Paint and Clean Up + a good hearty dinner with quality time spent together.

Other exterior updates throughout the year include: refacing the shared detached garage, regrading the yard, burying a water drainage pipe, infilling the exterior wall to the crawl space, removing the overgrown tree by the front door and using as a Christmas tree, and probably a few more things I am forgetting.

the before. in the back you can see our detached garage and a sneak peak that that is also being re-faced.

The intermediate - shutters off, windows tapped. Sneak peak that detached garage also being refaced.

The after. Ow that blue looks so good in the snow :)
