Main Bath

The main hall bath was our first big house renovation. There was an old stained glass window in the shower that used to open to the backyard. However, it had since been covered by an addition to the house, long before we were the homeowners, and now looked into the stud wall cavity. The stain glass window itself was pretty and I gave it to one of my crafty and thrifty friends to repurpose.

We did a full-gut but also try to be budget friendly. One budget friendly intention was to give the old vanity a new life. I wanted to paint the vanity navy or seafoam green. However, during the demo process the vanity top accidently broke and ended up with a new vanity - Jeff was secretly not so secretly happy about :).

We love thinking we can do all the work on our own but per usual we had many things going on at once and couldn’t keep up so we hired a professional to help tile-out the shower. He, Montana was a huge help and we are thankful for his work.

The bathroom is complete although never complete at the same time. It’s like a phased project, there is always something you want to update or fix especially as a do-it-yourself-er. For example, only last month did we replaced the small scale medicine cabinet mirror with a new larger mirror (not pictured) as we were using the medicine cabinet for personal care while or Master Bath is under renovation. (Go check out the Master Bath Remodel - it’s an oasis, I am in love.) Also, I decided the towel hooks in this bathroom were best suited for the Master Bathroom. Meaning I need to find new towel hooks for this bathroom but I am not in a huge hurry to replace those hooks until we have a guest. I want to find something I truly like that is reasonably priced without ordering online (trying to do more in person shopping and less shipping waste this year). Oh also after the bathroom being ‘complete’ for a couple months I tried an modern abstract painting on the wet wall because the bathroom felt it was lacking some design - i didn’t like how it turned out and ended up repainting to gray again.

To sum it up design and construction is always in flux around here and we are always doing something even if it is just dreaming of the next phase.

I have rambled enough and let’s be real who reads all of this anyways - I know I like pictures best :)
